Today is December 4th
Hey Little Man! So after we got those cute pictures of you, things started to change for Mommy. At Mommy's doctor appointments they were checking my blood pressure and little by little my blood pressure was starting to rise. Mommy could tell there was something going on because she was having some swelling. Mommy's blood pressure was getting to high and they needed me to go on bed rest so that I would lay down and help you stay in my tummy as long as we could! Mommy was put on bed rest on October 22nd, two days after our last baby shower. We found out that if I laid on my left side you would be the safest! This was a little boring and at times my hip would hurt, but Mommy was going to do what she could to help you stay in her tummy and grow!
I can't believe how big you have gotten already!
We love you so much,
Mommy

Letters to my baby!
Today is December 7th
Hey little man! You are taking a nap right now so I wanted to quickly fill you in on the wonderful parties everyone threw for you before you were here! While Mommy was pregnant with you, we were fortunate enough to have three baby showers thrown for us! You Honey and Aunts Katy and Megan threw the first one at Honey's house.
This is the diaper cake that they made you! You used every one of those diapers! :) They all worked really hard on making goodies for everyone to eat including cute monkey cupcakes and lion cookies!
We then played games, like which candy bar is in the diaper :), and opened great presents for you to use!

The second baby shower was at your Granny's house! She has ordered a really cute cake from The Cake Lady near her house. I loved this cake! Your room is decorated in a jungle theme and this cake was perfect to match it!
This was also a really fun shower full of games, great friends and family, and wonderful gifts for you and Mommy! Your Aunt Jackie went with your Granny to pick up decorations and she found all this stuff for Mommy to where during the shower, here is a very swollen Mommy in her get up! Our last shower was at Mommy's work. All of the teachers that teach third grade with Mommy threw us a shower! They worked so hard and did such a great job! They made lasagna, one of Mommy's favorites, with salad and garlic bread. One of the ladies husbands made to bread by hand just for the shower and it was delicious! They also had a very cute cake made! Mommy was so touched by everything that was given to us and how hard everyone worked to make this a special time for us! A friend of Mommy's had gone to the store everyday over the summer to save up wipes for you until she had 52 boxes! 52 BOXES!! I could not believe it! That was so sweet! Your closet it full of wipes right now! :)
There was a lot of people excited for you and they have all loved meeting you now that you are here!
Love you so much,
Mommy

Letters to my baby!
Today is December 3rd
Hey Little Man! I am a little behind on updating you on what all has gone on! A LOT has changed since I updated you last, as I am actually watching you sleep next to me right now!
Well, everything was going pretty well. Mommy was going to the doctor to watch you and make sure you were growing and that Mommy was healthy. When Mommy went back to work her blood pressure started going up so the doctors were watching us closely.
When I was 29 weeks pregnant with you I had another doctors appointment. At this appointment you decided to lay kind of funny which made you seem big so the doctors wanted to take a few pictures of you to make sure you weren't growing to fast! Luckily everything was just fine and they guessed that you weighed about 4 pounds then. I was happy because Daddy was able to barely get there in time to get some great pictures of you! Here you are at 29 weeks in Mommy's tummy.
It took a little while to get these pictures of you! You were not in the mood to have your picture taken this day, you would move your head, put your hands in front of your face, and even your feet!
Everyone was really excited to see these pictures of you! We could not wait to meet to and see your sweet face in person! Mommy and Daddy love you so much and will always cherish these special pictures of you!
We love you bunches,
Mommy

Your Aunts and Grandparents were really excited to get these surprise pictures of you!
A few weeks later Mommy and Daddy went to get 3D pictures of you taken. These are pictures that show more details about what you will look like! It was so neat to see. Daddy had also gotten a new phone that would take video so he took video's of us seeing you and we also got to take a dvd home of you moving around.

My new found LOVE!
I have recently found my new love and it is the season FALL! I am so excited for this season to start! I have never been a huge "fall person" at all, but this year it is totally different! I am totally surrounded by this warm feeling when I think about it! I want to redecorate my house in fall decorations! I went to Hobby Lobby this past weekend and loved everything I saw. Lets not even talk about the Christmas decorations they have out too!!! I am so excited and I actually think I know where this excitement is coming from.....
This is the season that my son will be born! I will have my first baby in November, and quickly celebrate my first two holidays, Thanksgiving and Christmas, with him. It is such a "mommy" feeling! I have always loved holidays but this year is so different! For the first time I feel like I am seeing this holiday season through my Mother's eyes, or maybe my mommy eyes :)

Letters to my baby!
Today is September 28th
As you are getting bigger I can really feel you moving around a lot! It is such a neat feeling but it also reminds me that you are going to be here with us really soon! We are so excited and we can't believe how quickly it has seemed to go. We are working really hard to get everything ready for you. We have decided to decorate your room in a jungle theme and to get ready Daddy painted your room a really pretty green color! He did such a great job and worked really hard taping the wall behind your crib to create a lattice design!

Letters to my baby!
Today is September 26th
Hey little man! It has been so long since I have been able to stop and write to you! Ever since Mommy has gone back to work everything has been so crazy. It has been really neat coming back to work for my 5th year of teaching with you with me. When we finished my 4th year you were still pretty small, many people knew about you but I don't think everyone at work knew because when I came back after Summer vacation there were some surpised faces! You have definitely gotten bigger!! So much has happened and I will update you on all of it!
One of the most exciting accomplishments that Mommy and Daddy have done is choosing your name! A person's name is so important and we put a lot of thought into yours! We have decided your name will be

Kicks, a multiple meaning word!
The word kicks can be used in many different ways. In this case it would be used as a noun, as in the name of the building where my hubby has started his indoor soccer league!
My hubby has spent his whole life playing soccer. He has played with his dad as his coach when he was little, played on Select Teams, played for his high school team, and then went on to college to play until he was injured and had to stop. When he and I lived in College Station he joined a men's league. It was really fun to sit on the sidelines and watch him play! Now in Katy he has found another league and I am right back on the sidelines watching.....Which brings me to a second meaning of the word kicks....
It can be used as a verb, as in the kicks this little man growing inside me is doing. And he definitely takes after his Daddy as he plays soccer with my belly! :)

Blog Hoppin' Friday!
Table centerpiece!
A few weeks ago I mentioned that I was in search of a centerpiece for my dining room table. I got in the car, drove to hobby lobby, and looked and searched for over an hour! Then got back in my car, empty handed and defeated, and headed back home! I couldn't believe that I hadn't found anything! I have to say that I know I have a hard time making up my mind and I really should have known better than to go looking without a plan or even an idea of what I liked!
I am now happy to say that I am no longer defeated and I found a centerpiece!! I came home from that terrible shopping trip and searched the internet. The more I looked that more I found myself thinking back to the centerpieces that were made for my wedding. I absolutely loved my centerpieces!

I think it looks so southern! I love it!
This was my inspiration! So, I got back in my car, drove back to hobby lobby, felt totally confident, and picked up all the stuff I would need!
I grabbed a hurricane vase and a candle, both 1/2 off!
A bundle of blue hydrangeas to match my dining room, 1/2 off!
A foam wreath, not 1/2 off, but that's OK! :)
And after grabbing some wire cutters and going to town, this is what I came up with!
I am pretty proud of myself and really like the way it turned out!
It feels like a little piece of our wedding to remind us of that special day!
Thanks for stopping by :)

Letters to my baby!
Today is July 20th
I am so excited! Last night Mommy and Daddy went and saw the movie Inception. We really liked it and I think you did too because you were moving around! Now ever since I started feeling you moving I would try to get Daddy to feel you on my belly. We have tried and tried but Daddy just hasn't been able to catch you moving.
Well, last night as we were watching the movie you started moving right above my belly button on my right side. I quickly grabbed Daddy's hand and put it where you were moving. And guess what!?! Daddy felt you! He looked over at me and gave me a thumbs up to ask if that was you moving and I shook my head yes. We both smiled and Daddy said that it felt so cool to feel you kick! Mommy has wanted to share this feeling of you kicking with Daddy for so long and I am so excited that he got to yesterday! We love you so much little man!

"The girls"
Some will laugh at me, but I have been known to flip my car around on several occasions to save a turtle on the side of the road. What can I say, I have always been an animal lover! I believe it has been bestowed in me ever since I was little from my mother and grandmother. There love of animals is well known, so much so that about six years ago when we lost my grandmother some wonderful people donated money to our local animal shelter in her honor!
My love of animals, along with my husbands, did not fall short at our house either as we are the owners of three beautiful girls!
This is Mia. My husband surprised his parents his senior year in high school by bringing this sweet yellow lab home with him one day! She is a very sweet dog that you would swear had the soul of a grandmother. I was introduced to Mia when I met my husband in college. He had brought me to his parents house to meet everyone and when I went to meet Mia she curled her lips up and showed her teeth! The funny thing is she didn't make a growling sound and she was swinging her head around as if she was excited. I was so confused until my husband explained to me that she "smiles." It seems that it is a hereditary trait as her father and brother also did this. Now when family comes over to visit us we always try to excite her to see her "smile!"The next in line as far as age is Tilli. I got Tilli after my freshman year in college. She was such a cute little puppy. She was the runt of her litter so she is smaller than your traditional West Highland White Terrior or Westie. My favorite feature of Tilli's is her tail. They believe that she must have been pushed up against a bone in her mommy's tummy because she was born with a twist in her tail that makes it curl back up like a pig's tail. She is best know for her craze of balls! If you dare throw a ball for her she will continue to bring it to you; even put it in your lap if she thinks you haven't seen it yet. And she cannot be tired out from retrieving it, believe me!The youngest of the puppy bunch is Bailey. My husband brought Mia to our family and I brought Tilli so after we got married we brought Bailey to the family together. Bailey is a sweet girl and has a very sweet heart! I have to say that Mia and Tilli are older, and calmer at this point in their lives, than our Bailey. She is a one year old black lab and she definitely has a lot of that puppy energy! She loves attention and loves to be pet. My favorite thing about her is that she really does want to please you! When you try petting another dog she will push her way between you and that dog so you will pet her, yet if you tell her to sit and wait she really will try, for a little while, to follow those directions. It reminds me of a small child staring at a ice cream cone waiting for its parents to let them eat it!
So these are our sweet girls, the three sisters! I wonder what they are going to think when our little boy invades the house in November! :) hehe, we will see......

Oh to create my baby boy's nursery!
And so it starts!
We now know that it will be our sweet baby boy coming to meet us in November! So it is time to really get started! My husband and I are pretty sure that we would like to have a jungle theme for our little man but really need to decided how we would like to carry this out. In college I took an art class where I really found my joy of art. I will be the first to admit that I am not the most creative at all, but I do find it relaxing and fun!
Before I was pregnant I had envisioned painting the walls with big trees and grass with jungle animals everywhere. Now that I am pregnant I want to stay away from the paint fums for our little man and my wonderful husband and family members have offered to paint the nursery for me. So I have decided to go with a more simple paint choice for the walls and fill the room with jungle and animal print things instead.
I can admit (and my husband would quickly agree) that I have a hard time deciding on what I like. I just went to hobby lobby the other day trying to find something for a centerpiece for our dining room table. I thought that I would be able to just walk in and see what they had and be inspired! Needless to say, I walked out with no centerpiece! I should have known that I have to walk in with some kind of direction!!

So for this nursery I have already started my research. I googled to find different nursery pictures that I liked from other people so I could get some ideas of what I liked!I came across this picture and loved this green color! And in this picture I really liked how soft it looked with the drapping over the crib and soft paint colors but wasn't sure if it would look too "girly."I thought these horizontal strips looked really fun! And although we have carpet in our nursery room, this zebra rug is really cute! But I think this lattice accent wall is my favorite! I was thinking of maybe doing this in a soft taupe color.
I don't really know yet (remember how I said it was hard to make up my mind? :) I really need to hurry and make a decision though so I can get it done before my summer break as a teacher is over! Feel free to share any of your ideas or opinions you have!! Two heads are better than one! :)
